Re: Dynamic Energy Utility Scale Solar Compliance Review

Dear Planning Commissioners,

Citizens for Fauquier County (CFFC), the oldest non-profit dedicated to open land preservation in Fauquier County, appreciates that solar power has an important role in meeting the renewable energy goals of our state and country. However regarding the Borrego Solar proposal, we do not believe it is consistent with the county’s comprehensive plan, the major criterion the county has identified for evaluating utility-scale facility proposals; and, would agree with all the concerns the Piedmont Environmental Council stated in their message to you on this project. As you conduct your compliance review, we respectfully ask that you consider our position.

CFFC believes Fauquier’s process for reviewing utility-scale solar facilities is sound and that the compliance review is a critical step. And we have confidence that the Planning Commission will keep in mind how important agriculture is to the county, and that prime agricultural lands are not a renewable resource.

Sincerely,

Kevin Ramundo

President
