Gigaland: Residents Aren't Buying It

By Ali Zarabi, President, Citizens for Fauquier County
By now, many have seen CFFC’s ads highlighting the connections between Fauquier Forward and data center interests associated with the proposed Remington Technology Park/Gigaland.
The reaction we've heard from many residents has been consistent: they already knew.

Our ads weren't intended to uncover some hidden secret. But designed to bring clarity to a conversation that has too often been framed as something it is not.
The question facing Fauquier County has never been about charitable donations, sponsorships, or public relations campaigns. It is about whether large-scale industrial data center development is compatible with the rural character, natural resources, infrastructure, and quality of life that we have worked to protect for generations.
Residents aren't “believing the bull”. They understand that changing the messenger doesn't change the message. More importantly, they understand what is at stake.
The debate over data center development in Fauquier County is far from over. Significant decisions related to Remington Technology Park and other large-scale development proposals remain ahead. The choices made in the coming months and years will have lasting impacts.
That is why CFFC remains engaged. For nearly 60 years, we have worked to inform, educate, and empower people to participate in the decisions that shape our community. We are a volunteer-led organization supported by members, donors, and citizens who believe that local voices deserve to be heard.
Our mission is not to speak for the community. Our mission is to help the community speak for itself. The upcoming discussions surrounding Remington Technology Park will be among the most consequential land-use decisions facing Fauquier County. If you care about the future of our community, now is the time to get involved.
Upcoming Opportunities to Engage
County leaders need to hear from the people who live, work, and raise families here. The most effective voices are informed, respectful, and engaged. We encourage all residents to participate in the way that works best for them.
