Warrenton Planning Commission Rushes Hearing on New Housing Developments

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

A rulemaking that would increase the town's population by allowing five housing units per acre on commercial land is the subject of a public hearing on Dec. 15 at 7 pm before the planning commission in the new Town Hall.

The proposed mixed-use rulemaking comes before the as-yet-unpublished draft comprehensive plan has been analyzed, much less voted on by Warrenton Town Council. Unknown is how this rule and its resulting population increase will impact traffic, taxes, water and sewer needs, and quality of life.

Putting forth this significant rezoning now, divorced from the comprehensive plan, is premature and hampers the public's ability to evaluate the impact of the proposal.
