Join a CFFC committee and have a say in the critical issues facing our County.

Our organization has several committees, each of which welcomes new members who would like to help.

Communications Committee

Mission

  • To vocalize CFFC’s overall mission in the community through various media and events;
  • to provide information that is accurate and timely;
  • to support the efforts of all other committees.

 

Membership Committee

Mission

  • The Membership Committee works to retain existing membership and attract new members;
  • To achieve diverse membership and representation throughout the county;
  • To link members to volunteer opportunities and committee projects.

The Committee is also focused on increased community interaction through participation in the activities with other organizations which have shared a value and purpose

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Help with identifying common areas of interest and action with other local organizations.
  • Recruit new members through individual or group contacts.

 

Environmental Resources Committee

Mission:

  • To work with the County to protect and preserve the environmental resources of Fauquier County identified primarily as air, water, and soil, but including agricultural and forestal land, open space, and viewsheds;
  • To educate the public regarding our environmental resources and their interdependence;
  • To provide leadership in protection and conservation.

 

Fiscal Matters Committee

Mission

  • To inform members of the CFFC Board about upcoming budget, capital improvement spending, bond issuance, and other financial issues that could affect tax rates and/or County spending;
  • To provide assistance to the CFFC Board or other volunteers on issues and process that could benefit from CFFC public information or testimony.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Do document research in places such as the Dept. of Community Development to help us build a model to predict the tax impacts of various types of development in the county.
  • Work with Excel and/or model building and with graphic presentation development.
  • Research ¬†and identify legal expertise in matters regarding local autonomy vs. the Dillon rule in VA.

 

Historic Resources Committee

Mission:

To use all of the county, state, and federal tools that are available to promote and preserve Fauquier County’s natural and historic resources.

The committee intends to educate existing local preservation organizations regarding those tools and, where possible, facilitate collaboration between county residents and officials responsible for historic preservation programs.

Volunteers are need to:

  • Help research areas that could be named a Rural Historic District.
  • Help educate these communities about the Rural Historic District program.
  • Work with county government and other local organizations on historic preservation.

 

Land Use Committee

Mission:

  • To monitor potential development and recommend responive action by CFFC;
  • To routinely attend and report on work sessions and public hearings of Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors;
  • Seek out information on improved land use concepts, planning, and development to provide forward thinking perspectives supporting CFFC’s mission to elected and appointed officials and County staff.

Volunteers are need to:

  • To monitor develop submissions to County offices to identify submissions requiring rezonings, waivers, special permits, or special exceptions.
  • Help research identified submissions with consequential impacts to the County in general, or local neighborhoods, and develop comments to the appropriate decision body and for publication on our web site and in the Monitor.
  • Monitor and review proposed land use associated ordinances for negative or un-intended consequences relative to implementing the County’s Comprehensive Plan.
  • Identify and research regional and national trends for development concepts and practices which, if adopted by Fauquier County, would enhance the preservation of natural, historic, and agricultural resources within Fauquier County and protect the County’s unique way of life.

 

Transportation Committee

Mission

To promote and foster transportation planning and improvements that preserve the natural, historic, and agricultural resources of Fauquier County and protect the county’s unique quality of life through education and leadership in transportation associated areas.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Attend meetings of the County Transportation Committee and VDOT, and attend Prince William County Town Hall meetings in the Gainesville area to prepare reports for the CFFC Board of Directors.
  • Monitor the VDOT planning website and prepare monthly reports on plans and construction in and around Fauquier County.
  • Monitor County transportation planning and construction activity and prepare status reports for the CFFC Board.
  • Conduct research and analysis of regional transportation planning and prepare analysis and recommendation for the CFFC Board regarding CFFC’s position and potential actions.
