Village of Midland
Fauquier County cover photos for the Midland Village Comprehensive Plan draft update
From February to October of 2008 the Catlett, Calverton, Midland Citizens
Comprehensive Planning Committee work with County staff to develop the 5
year update for the plans for these villages along Route 28 in South East
Fauquier County.  In April of 2009 the County Planning Commission
recommended approval of these changes and forwarded a updated
Comprehensive Plan to the Board of Supervisors.  At the 18 February 2010
Supervisors Public Hearing the Supervisors took comment on their proposed
plan update.  This Public Hearing has been held open by the Supervisors
to receive additional comment.

CFFC supports the changes put forward in these recommendations which
include reducing the overall acreage of each village service district area,
reduces the number of potential dwelling units, and maintains the current
character of Route 28 with the implementation of traffic calming measures.

Added to the Midland Comprehensive Plan in the Supervisors revised draft are two important overlay maps relating to the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport.  Over the last 15 years the Federal Aviation Agency has invested over $10 Million to upgrade this airport into a reliever facility for Dulles and Washington National airports.  This upgrade is expected to serve as key ingredient in fostering industrial business development around the airport helping to increase the economic base of the County and help reduce the County's dependency on residential real estate taxes.
